We accept any performance art form from burlesque to drag to club-style stripping to aerial arts to sideshow to ballet, and our practices prioritize booking our queer community, performers with disabilities, people of color, and any body-having on-stage thing-doer, no matter what your body looks like. See "Values" in the menu bar above to get an idea of how aggressively inclusive we are.

So how does it work?

Our application system is designed to spread performance opportunities (and workload) across the community in the most inclusive and sustainable ways we can. Our team releases application forms for each show, and we organize the lineup based around diversity, balancing veteran performers with new faces, and saving space for people who have been structurally turned away from other shows. If you're looking for a safe way to get your toes wet and learn how our shows run, we're always looking for Kittens (our sparkly or spiky stagehands who help the show run by picking up stripper droppings, laying out props, writing stage names on the whiteboard, or sitting to film bits of acts for our instagram). We need a whole caboodle to keep the show rolling smoothly! Apply with "Kitten" in the act/backend info so we can reach out to you.

We have multiple staging areas for diverse physical accessibility and audience immersion: a high raised stage that has tall wobbly steps and a pillar, a low raised mini platform stage that is basically two shorter steps in front of a graffiti mural, a ground-level staging area directly in front of the high raised stage, and a ground-level stage in an L from the raised stage in front of a tattered brick wall. We also sometimes use a platform or spotlight corner between stages for the emcee, and a back of house rig point for aerials. Depending on the needs and preferences of our performers first, then artistic freedom and lighting design second, we choose different staging areas for each show.

Whether you've never performed before and are feeling inspired, if you're an old school stripper who's been twirling tassels longer than I've been alive, or anywhere in between, we want to save a spot for you. Please also check out Vaudeville Underground to connect with our performers, find (or teach) workshops, and work out your next act!
